Three day workshop concluded on Developing guidelines for mapping/ writing of local area and school history by undertaking activities with students

Jammu, November 08: Taking a lead in the initiative, SCERT, Jammu Division successfully culminated a 3 day workshop w.e.f. 6th of Nov. to 8th of Nov. 2024.“ Developing guidelines for mapping/ writing of local area and school history by undertaking activities with students.”. The workshop was conducted with the objectives to instill in the youngsters a sense of citizenship and pride in their local history, reconstruct the history of the places to appreciate and acknowledge specific community experiences developed over a period of time. The workshop was organized under the aegis of Academic UNIT III, which  brought together 30 participants and experts in the field across various zones of Jammu Division. The program was inaugurated with  the lighting of traditional lamp by Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, accompanied by Mtr. Tahira Parveen Shawl, Head AU-III, along with wing  head  Dr. Neeraj Jandial, being convener of the 3 day workshop.

The days’ proceedings began with the welcome address of Mtr. Tahira Parveen Shawl and keynote address delivered by Dr. Neeraj Jandial focusing on the mandate and giving all the clarity  to the line of action for three days. Prof.( Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor in her thought-provoking inaugural address highlighted the importance of the initiative, appreciated the dedicated services of teachers who are the backbone of our country and are rendering their services at the lowest level of demography. She congratulated all the participants and the organizing team for taking a lead in this initiative. The workshop brought together the eminent historians, archeologists, researchers and academicians together on the same platform. The key highlight of the workshop featured the interactive, inspirational and enlightening  sessions delivered by the eminent resource persons, experts in the field  namely,  Dr. Anil Paba, a renowned archeologist and social activist. Sh S M Sahni, retired KAS officer,  Dr. J.B Singh, Asstt. Prof in Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, Central Univ. of Jammu,Dr Anu Bala Kotwal and  Dr Shalini Rana HOD English in Government College of Education Jammu.

 The sessions were followed by impressive presentations by the participants as well as their valuable feedback.

The valedictory function was presided over by Worthy Joint Director Prof. Sindhu Kapoor with the award of certificates of appreciation to all the participants. Later a report of the workshop was also presented on the occasion.

The fascinating Journey to uncover ,preserve and cherish the rich cultural heritage of J&K concluded on the high note with a formal vote of thanks presented by Coordinator. The event was meticulously coordinated by Mr. Pawan Vivek and co coordinators Ms. Farat John and Dr. Meenakshi Chandan and seamlessly moderated by Ms. Manu Vasudeva anddedicated organizing team including Bikram Singh,SabahRasheed, Pooja Sharma, Seema Zakir,Sushma, Madhu Sharma,Dr Sunita Sharma, Dr Sandeep Singh. Technical team consisted of Dr Balgar Singh and Rohit Sharma while MTS was Dhanvir Singh.
