ony urges NSUI Cadre to strengthen grassroots for upcoming Panchayat & ULB Elections

Calls for vigilance against narco-terrorism

JAMMU: Senior Congress leader and DDC Member Taranjit Singh Tony encouraged the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) cadre in Jammu and Kashmir to work diligently at the grassroots level in preparation for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections.

He stated this while interacting with the NSUI team, led by Tavleen Singh Boprai, Joint Secretary of NSUI J&K, who visited his office to discuss the pressing issues faced by the youth across the region, particularly rising unemployment.

During the interaction, Tony emphasized the pivotal role of students play as the backbone of society. “It is essential for the youth to be engaged in resolving issues affecting students and young people. We must also empower them to take active roles in strengthening the Congress Party’s base at the grassroots level,” he said.

Expressing concern over the policies of the ruling BJP and RSS, Tony criticized their divisive strategies, stating, “The BJP and RSS have continued to follow policies that are not in the national interest, compromising the integrity and unity of our beloved India. It is essential for us to stand united, fighting tooth and nail against any such policies.” He urged NSUI members to actively promote the ideals of universal brotherhood, ensuring that Congress’s values of inclusivity and unity remain strong in Jammu and Kashmir.

Tony also called upon the NSUI cadre to be vigilant against the growing threat of narco-terrorism, which he described as a dire challenge that cannot be combated by law enforcement alone. “The police cannot fight this war on narco-terrorism singlehandedly; our youth must take up the responsibility to safeguard our society from this menace,” he stated.

The senior Congress leader encouraged the youth to play an active role in identifying and preventing drug-related issues within their communities, underscoring the need for collective efforts to protect the future of Jammu and Kashmir.

Tony asked NSUI cadre to work with determination to represent the concerns of students and youth, strengthen the Congress Party’s presence, uphold the principles of national unity, and remain vigilant in combating the menace of narco-terrorism in the region.nor
