Chandigarh: Gopashtami festival was organized at Maat Pita Godham Mahatirth, Banur-Ambala Road in Mohali district with religious fervour.
Gochar Gian Chand Walia, founder of Godham said that a large number of people from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Chandigarh and Delhi participated in the program.
Following cow mothers’ worship in the morning, Nandini Gau Mahayagya and Purnahuti were held. Sankirtan and praise of cow mothers was also held and a grand aarti of cow mothers was held in the evening followed by a bhandara.
All India Gau Kathavak Shri Chandrakant, Gau Pracharak Acharya Sushil Mishra, International bhajan singer Sushma Sharma participated in the program.
Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State was chief guest during the occasion. Special guests were Dr. Govind Ji Kale, Dr. Divya Gupta Independent Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Devashish Nilos the former Indian cricketer.
On this occasion, among others Godham president Amarjeet Bansal, Surnesh Singla, Kashmiri Lal Gupta, Maman Ram Garg, Lajpat Rai Garg, Subhash Agarwal, Deepak Mittal, Suresh Bansal, Subhash Singla, Pankaj Jaiswal, Kapil, Babu were present.
During the occasion, over 2000 desi ghee diyas were lit by the devotees.
In the World Record Book (London), the Maat Pita Godham Mahatirth Temple has been given the status of being the only temple in the world, which does not have the idol of any God in the temple, but here parents are worshipped like God.
Gian Chand Walia said that the Mahatirth is developing as a spiritual center today. In this pilgrimage site, alongside the education to love cow mothers, the message of respecting parents is being also given.
